Where Is the Wheel Lock Key for Lexus Models?
I am a serial entrepreneur and a consumer advocate. When I’m not helping car buyers, I love working on ventures that have a positive impact.
If you need to change a tire on your Lexus, you’ll notice that there’s a uniquely-shaped lugnut that you won’t find the tool for in your toolbox.
This is because Lexus uses unique wheel lock keys to prevent tire theft.
Here’s where you can find your wheel lock key if you drive a Lexus.
Table of Contents
Lexus Wheel Lock Key Location
Unlike many other manufacturers, Lexus wheel lock keys are found in the door to the trunk of your Lexus.
Inside the very back door, you will see a small, square area with a latch on the side. Once you pull that section out, you can find the wheel lock key in a small compartment. The key will be a small, roundish piece of metal that looks like a socket.
You can then attach it to the crowbar (also located in the same compartment) and use it to free your tire!
Lexus Wheel Lock Key Replacement
If you have lost your wheel lock key, don’t panic!
You can always order a replacement from your local Lexus dealership or, as always, online.
If you do choose to purchase online, you’ll need to make sure you have the correct code, which can only be found on the box or bag that contains the wheel lock key.
Since that’s probably going to be a problem if you’ve misplaced the packaging along with the lock key, you have a few different options.
You could see a technician and have them swap out the lug nut key and wheel lock key system for a universal one, making it easier to access in the future.
Of course, it’s always recommended to go to a technician that has special tools if you need to remove the tire without the wheel lock key.
