What EV Incentives Are Available in Vermont?
Vermont has the following incentives in place for electric vehicles and associated purchases for charging:
- Up to $5,000 rebate depending on filing status and annual income
- Individual filing as single or head of household:
- Income $50,000 or less: $3,000 for plug-in hybrids, $4,000 for all-electric vehicles
- Income $50,001 up to $100,000: $1,500 for plug-in hybrids, $2,500 for all-electric vehicles
- Married filing jointly:
- Income $75,000 or less: $3,000 for plug-in hybrids, $4,000 for all-electric vehicles
- Income $75,001 up to $125,000: $1,500 for plug-in hybrids, $2,500 for all-electric vehicles
- Married filing separately:
- Income $50,000 or less: $3,000 for plug-in hybrids, $4,000 for all-electric vehicles
- Income $50,001 up to $100,000: $1,500 for plug-in hybrids, $2,500 for all-electric vehicles
- Individual filing as qualifying widower:
- Income $75,000 or less: $3,000 for plug-in hybrids, $4,000 for all-electric vehicles
- Income $75,001 up to $125,000: $1,500 for plug-in hybrids, $2,500 for all-electric vehicles
- 25% of the upfront cost of a used high-efficiency vehicle for low-income applicants, up to $5,000
- $3,000 Replace Your Ride rebate
Incentives for Purchasing an EV in Vermont
Vermont offers a rebate for up to $4,000 off the purchase of a new electric vehicle.
To qualify, EV buyers must meet the following purchase criteria:
- Meet the income requirements of the corresponding rebate
- Purchase or lease eligible models with a base MSRP of $40,000 or less for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles and $45,000 or less for All-Electric Vehicles
- The registered owner name/lessee must match the name on the State Incentive Program incentive application and the final contract.
- The vehicle must be registered in the State of Vermont.
- The form must be complete and signed.

Other EV Incentives Offered in Vermont
Vermont offers the following incentives for electric vehicle charging, maintenance, or related benefits:
- Replace Your Ride program– $3,000 for each eligible scrapped Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle
- Several utilities and power companies in Vermont also offer incentives to customers who buy electric vehicles. These include:
